First, as you know, Magdelene Armand's name is spelled many different ways.I am going to spell it as I found it in each individual record.
Marie Magdeleinne Armant was born at the Fortress of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, Canada. Her parents were Joseph Marie Armant, a native of Metz, France, and Cecile Normand (who I believe was a native of Canada).
Magdeleinne was baptized on March 11, 1752.Her godfather (parrain) was Antoinne Didion. Her godmother(marraine) was Marie Magdeleinne Lessenne.(This is from the parish baptismal records from the Fortress of Louisbourg. She was the oldest of six children. At least, that is as many as I found records for. After the capture of Louisbourg by the British in 1758, the family left Canada and went to Louisiana. At first, they settled in Pointe Coupee Parish. There, three of the Armant daughters were married. Magdeleine married Gabriel Lamathe, son of Joseph Marie Lamathe and Therese Gode de St. Germain, on January 31, 1769 in a double wedding. Her sister, Angelique Fleurit, was married to Louis Riche II at the same time. Marriage records note that Cecile Normand was deceased at the time of her daughters' weddings.
At some point, Magdelene was widowed and then married Nicholas Lacour II.
Magdelene's father married again in Natchitoches, LA to Marie Theresa Legros and had six more children.
In case you are interested, Magdelene's brother, Jean Marie Armant, moved to St.James Parish, LA.around 1795 with his wife, Felicite Dupain, and son, Jean Baptiste. There is an article about this family in the "Louisiana Genealogical Register", vol. XXVI,1979, pp.276-277.
