Mr. Armitage,
Dear Sir.
In reply to your letter of last July, I find I made a mistake in the name, it being Elizabeth Heywood, commonly called "Betty", who was my Great-Grandmother.Grandma had spoken to me so often of the Armitage Family, but I was very young at the time and could not recall all she had told me.The Family Bible, giving the full family history of over one hundred years past is in the family and I expect to get possession of (it) some time.Grandmother Heywood being related to the Williamson and Drinkwater families, and to trace the record. It can be found in Old Saint Mary's Church and on the old Tombstones close to Deans Gate.Sir Elkanah was full cousin to Grandma Heywood, and she married the Heywood of Moss Side, and traced the lineage in that action for Three Hundred Years past.Grandma Heywood said they were spoken of in the Book giving the History of Manchester. My Grandmother, being named Elizabeth, after her Mother, she marrying a Pickering. There are many other things to numerous to mention.Grandmother, asking me at some future time to write and let it be known there were some of the decedents of the Armitage family still living.
Thank you for your kind letter.
