Andrew Armour of Jackson Co., Ga. appears to be a son of the James Armour who died in that county about 1803. James is almost certainly a brother of the John and Andrew Armour of Greene Co., Ga. These three men were, in turn, sons--so it seems to me--of the James Armour who lived in the Catawba River area along the NC/SC border from about 1750. Andrew, John, and James Armour emigrated to north GA in the mid-1780s and eventually settled in Greene and Jackson counties. Therefore the Andrew who married Rachel Griggs almost certainly wasn't born in TN, but (probably) on the NC/SC line. While the Armours who appear in the 1790 census in NC and eventually settled in Dickson Co. TN may well be related to the GA families the connection hasn't so far been proven. The Dickson Co. TN family has no connection to GA while the Armor and Armour families which moved into Giles Co. TN and northern AL certainly have earlier roots in GA. The John Armer of Jackson Co. TN is also a likely member of one of the Greene-Jackson Co. GA families.
