Philip Danforth Armour III
I am trying to verify a story handed down by an old Arizona cowhand on an Armour ranch(possibly the Circle R) between Phoenix and Wickenburg in the 1920's. The story has it that a single son of an owner of the Armour Company from Chicago went out to Arizona on business, but was also looking for a wife. The supervisor of the ranch had several pretty daughters who tried to win his heart. Instead he fell in love with their orphan cousin who was too busy working to party with the group. He promised to return a year later and marry her. Story has it that he did so and took her back to Chicago as his wife. If there are any living relatives from this line, I would like to know if Gwendolyn B. Condon was this woman. Also if this Cinderella story belongs to another Armour relative, I would like to set the story straight. I have been told that it appeared in the Prairie Farmer Magazine, but have not been able to find it.
