Hi, again.Talked to my Father today to try and get some of this straight for you. Ballard and Simuel Artrip were first cousins. They also had a cousin named Edith.Simuel had a sister called Altie(which was obviously your grandmother Alta), a sister called Avie(which is probably the Evie). Simuel's first wife was Cara. They had three children, Dallas, Glen, and Lucy. This is my branch of the family.Yours would branch off from Altie, but, hey, were cousins or something. My Dad is very old, but would be very interesting for you to talk to.He was raised in Artrip and so was my mother, but she died in 86. Dad says that they were not Amish, but very much like them in their ways.He knew your Aunt Mattie and your Grandmother Altie. He has told some big tales on Ballard and Dallas. The Russell County Library has quite an extensive genealogy section on Artrips, but like I said, this particular branch secluded themselves so much that there are not a lot of records.Dad says the best way to find Artrip is that it is between Finney and Cleveland in Russell County if that's any help. The name Artrip is so unusual, I am always so surprised when I see it anywhere.
Hope this helps your search.Teresa
