I do not know anyone doing Ashford family research in the U.K. In fact, none of the information I have even shows who the first Ashford was to come to the U.S. I have copies that don't indicate the source of, for instance: "1700 - Came Michael Ashford from Kent, England to America. Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy. I have the foggiest notion what this Compendium is. None of my correspondents has used it as a reference source. The same information sheet shows, 1640: Ambrose Ashford, 'a gentleman of quality' was taken prisoner in the Moneke (should be Monmouth) Rebellion and sent to America. Obviously, that date is incorrect since the Rebellion didn't take place until 1685.
