I was very intrigued by your posting of your lineage.I am hoping it is a connection of some sort for my husband's Ashman family.
I note that Stephen Adolphus Ashman was b 2/18/1834 in Orange Co., NY, d 2/15/1915 in Phila. PA.Also that his wife m. 5/8/1855 in Lancaster, PA(1) Fanny Condy was b. 4/27/1838 in Lancaster, PA. and d 7/26/1875 in Phila. PA.Also that he m. (2) Jane Johnson in 1879 in Phila. PA.
These parents would have been the right age for our John Ashman who was born 6/11/1862 in Phila. Pa.Are there any other brothers not listed? Is there any possibility that William T. J. could be our JOHN?it says he was b 9/14/1857, d 2/26/1914 Phila. PA and married Mary M. UNKNOWN in 1884.The dates fit extremely well, as in my records I have the marriage date as CA 1885. What do you think?
Another part that really interests me is the very end of your "part 3" regarding John William Ashman. It says that he was put up for adoption to his maternal aunt Elizabeth and W. R. Dean. (her husband?) The reason I find this of such great interest is listed below. What do you think?Do you have any of the records for W. R. Dean?It is a GREAT coincidence, is it not?
In the 1900 census, Charles Dean was born 5/17/1863 in PA.
Here are my notes from the 1900 census for the listing: "John Ashman and Mary Horner Ashman lived at 2636 Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA at the 1900 US Census. The census source:Vol #180, ED 697, Sheet 19, Line 78.City and County of Philadelphia, PA. Living with them at their address were their six (6) children; Charles, Mary, John, Albert, Frank and Gertie. Also living at their address were George Horner (brother), b. 8/17/1867 in PA., and Charles Dean, listed as Brother ---(???)b. 5/17/1863. -in PA."
Can you please send me a note and let me know if you have any further information on John Ashman - and the Dean family?
I am running in to a brick wall trying to find these Ashmans and Horners......
Also, who is Charles Dean that he would be a "brother"?
