Benjamin H. Ashworth Pope County Arkansas
Benjamin H. Ashworth was a resident of Dover, Pope co. AR. I obtained his pension application for service during the Mexican War. Here are a few notes that might be of interest to Ashworth researchers.
Enlisted June 30, 1846 with 1st regiment Co. C cavalry. Discharged June 20, 1847 at Camargo, Mexico. Mustered in at Washington, Co. AR. Two witnesses to his pension claim were John G. Connelly and John R. Hickey who served with him in the same company and knew one another since 1842 and 1841, respectively. All were in the battle of Buena Vista.
Benjamin H. Ashworth was only married one time. That was on Dec. 2, 1847 to Louiza Jones (he also refers to her as Sarah L. Jones in another document). Only one child was living by 1898, Elizabeth Linzy who was born Oct. 3, 1848.
Benjamin H. Ashworth in his pension application states he was born at Hardin county Tennessee on Oct. 30, 1823. Soldier died at Pope July 2, 1901.
My long time interest is in finding out any connection between Ashworth's and Franklin's.
