Have you searched for these people in censuses? I have found Karl Aspelund and family in the 1930 U.S. Federal Census. I can try to send you images using Ancestry.com's sharing service if you would like. Provide an email address. (It is often hard to get the right address by clicking on a name because the image of the address is often distorted by dots, etc.)
1930 United States Federal Census
Name: Karl Aspelund

Age: 37
Estimated birth year: abt 1893
Birthplace: Sweden
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's name: Anna
Race: White
Household Members: Name Age
Karl Aspelund 37
Anna Aspelund 22
Karl Aspelund 5
Felma Aspelund 3 9/12
Bertha Aspelund 1 11/12

Year: 1930; Census Place: Kvichak, Third Judicial District, Alaska Territory; Roll: 2628; Page: 2A; Enumeration District: 23; Image: 126.0.
According to this census, Karl immigrated in 1913. The census is actually dated 1929. Perhaps the census date was different in Alaska. I have never seen that before.
Have you seen the World War I Draft Registration for this man? This is a summary but the handwritten record can be sent to you if you provide your email address. Note the second name of Walter, which is the same as Valter. (W and V are interchangeable in Sweden.)
Name: Carl Walter Aspelund
City: Not Stated
County: Kootenai
State: Idaho
Birthplace: Sweden
Birth Date: 25 Mar 1892
Roll: 1452216
DraftBoard: 0
Source Citation: Registration Location: Kootenai County, Idaho; Roll: 1452216; Draft Board: 0.
The record says he was born in Hernosand, Sweden. (Hernosand is spelled Härnösand in modern Sweden and it can be found in Västernorrland län. The Karl Valter I found was also born in that län) Härnösand is a kommun (municipality/township) with a number of parishes, although I don't see any listing of Stynnäs parish in that kommun. (I can't find Styrnäs on an online map but I did find it on an atlas of Sweden. Härnösand is not extremely close to Styrnäs parish but it does appear to be the largest place nearby so perhaps that is why he said he was born there.
