South Pacific: AULL
Greetings!
Researching the surname: AULL and particularly from the Samoan Islands, what used to be German Samoa and/or Western Samoa now is Samoa.
Am eager to receive all your ideas and learned experience as to the origins of the name: AULL. German? Russian? Swedish? Danish?
I have yet to search for AULL descendants on the Samoan islands and if they have moved on I hope I find them relocated to Australia and/or New Zealand.
The earliest on the island of Upolu, Samoa is George AULL c.1865,,Germany, m.1889,,Samoa, Pacific Islands. My predicament is child listed by the name George AULL b.1891, Apia, Upolu, Samoa is listed as "female". She, George, marries a young man called Tasi and that is a male name which runs in my family which means "one".
How is "George" pronounced in Germany? In America it is not uncommon to give a girl a boy's name, e.g. Michael, Johnnie, Tyler, etc., all girl names in my family nowadays.
So, can I hear your thoughts as to my dilemmas? -
Regards,
Manaia
