Karen, thanks for your response.Glad to hear such positive work is carrying on - more Mamies in the making? On a personal note, if it is the Richard Eaton I think it is, I was one of the many who joined his University Chorus while he was musical director in Edmonton, Alberta many years ago - or is this Richard someone from a more recent vintage?
Regarding my Auten line, I can't give you details on PA, only that John W. Auten b. 1783 and married to Mary Miller b. 1787 were both born there. His son was James Wesley Auten b. 1809 and married to Elinor Nancy Davis b. 1818 - again both in Pennsylvania. They were married in 1845 in Carroll, Ohio and came West to Nebraska with their family in the early 1870s.
Their son, James Thatcher Auten b. 1849 in Carroll, OH, married Laura Alice Hall b. 1859 and their oldest child - Leonidas J. Auten, was my grandfather.
The Autens moved to Alberta in about 1904 and there is a nice clutch of the clan in BC and Alberta to this day.
I am particularly interested in following back in time.We can't get past John W. Auten!I look forward to more correspondence with members of the Forum on that problem.
