I would appreciate any narrative you can provide about the couple. It is my understanding that they didn't have children.I have their dates of death but would you know where they are buried?Howard apparently died in Torrance.Does the same apply to Agnes?I also would appreciate any pictures you might have of the couple.
Now a little about myself.I am the great grandson of Rev David Luther Lander that wrote "History of the Lander Family of Virginia and Kentucky" in 1921.A subsequent book was written by Peggy Roberta Brown Chapman, "History of the Lander Family of Virginia and Kentucky by Rev. David L. Lander with additions and corrections by Peggy Roberta Chapman Brown in cooperation with Alice Freeman Hills." Peggy is now deceased.Alice Hills was kind enough to have me copy Peggy's manuscript.
I have made it my mission in retirement to combine both books, my search and contributions from others, on CD for my children and grandchildren.I freely share this work with any Lander and allied families that are interested in the Lander family history at no cost.Since there is over 3,000 pages CD's are ideal forms of distribution of this history. As for my relationship to Howard: Howard H. LANDER and David Henry LANDER are 3rd cousins 2 times removed.Their common ancestors are Patriarch Charles LANDER and Katharine FOREMAN.
Howard is mentioned in my great grandfather's book as follows:HOWARD, born May 13, 1892, was in the World War "over there," and now lives at Lawrenceville, Illinois. [000:I/p73]
Philip Auth sent me the following information: David...I see that Lori has sent you some information already... I am the PHILLIP AUTH she refered to in her post. AGNES AUTH was my great Aunt, I remember visiting here in California when I was a child. She was a widow living with here sister ROSE AUTH HOWARD at that time.According to my notes, HOWARD LANDER died 23 Apr 1967 in Torrance, California.AGNES died 16 Sept 1971.They had no children. Her sister had 7 children and my files are not current but I think one or two daughters may still be living, I can double check with my father. If you would like to track down these nieces of HOWARD LANDER, let me know.PHILLIPPS... How long have you been in Cripple Creek... I lived in Denver, Boulder and Westminster from 1988 to 1998 when I moved to Austin, Texas where I live now!
Again, I would appreciate any information you may have and would be more than happy to share ancestry of Howard and all the Lander pictures collected so far.
