Denise, I assume you are referring to Sir Anthony Babington MP c.1475-1536, although you do not mention any dates. I do not know of any connection with Gravesend in Kent. His parents' manor was at Dethick in Derbyshire, and he lived with his second wife Catherine Ferrers at the manor at Kingston-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire where he built the church and chantry, and where he died. As an MP and lawyer he would have been well connected with London, but I see no reference to Gravesend in his biographical notes in the History of Parliament. I think you must be thinking of a much later Babington of a different family.
