EAST WAREHAM — Rico A. "Sparky" Bacchiocchi, 81, of East Wareham, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Mildred V. (Gervais) Bacchiocchi.
Born and raised in Mansfield, he was the son of the late Amalia (Mei) and Luigi Bacchiocchi. Moving to Wareham in 1955, Mr. Bacchiocchi was the owner and operator of Wareham Marine and Supply, Inc. which is now G & S Marine in Buzzards Bay. He was also a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid gardener, boater and fisherman. Much of his leisure time was spent on the water sharing his love of fishing with his children, grandchildren and extended family at Maco's Bait & Tackle. He was passionate about the family meal on Sundays with more than enough food for whoever stopped by. He spent the last few years wintering in Englewood, Fla., where he had many dear friends.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Richard Bacchiocchi and his wife Donna Nightingale of Hyannis, Robert Bacchiocchi of Rochester, Ronald Bacchiocchi and his companion Anne-Marie Ross of Plymouth, Denise Davidson and her husband Robert of Wareham, William Bacchiocchi and his wife Debora of Rochester, Gary Bacchiocchi and his wife Elizabeth of East Freetown and Kevin Bacchiocchi and his wife Joyce of Wareham; two brothers, Elio Bacchiocchi of Mansfield and Gino Bacchiocchi of Cumberland, R.I.; his sister, Mary Graves of Wareham; his grandchildren, Richard, Shane and Caryn, Daniel, Brandon and Heather, Ryan and Kristina, Taylor, Cam, Matthew, Beth and James, Michael and Kristina, Craig, Blaine, Reed, Samuel, Andrew, Emily and Allison; his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Eva, Joseph, Lindsey and Alexandria. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and all his friends at Maco's Bait and Tackle in Buzzards Bay. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Angelo Bacchiocchi; his sister, the late Antoinette Bacchiocchi and his grandson, the late Douglas Bacchiocchi.
His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rte. 28), Wareham, on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, 82 High St., Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
