Tegan the only Batchelors in TN that I know of are descendants of John and Alexander who were born and orphaned in Halifax Co., NC.
They moved to Jackson Co., GA about 1804 and to Madison and Haywood counties in TN before 1830 (their farms were on the county lines between the two counties).
John only had one daughter but Alexander had sons Thomas W, John Alexander, James Watt, Leander Caugan, and daughters Patience C, Martha A, and Elvira V.
I once talked to a Batchelor from Jackson, TN, who said that the former slaves (all Batchelors) now owned the original farms and that the descendants of Alexander mostly lived in the towns of Brownsville and Jackson.
Since you did not state your ethnicity, I can say that Amon, David, and Elizabeth Batchelor (presumed black) live on one of the original farms.Their address is 170 Batchelor Rd., Mercer, TN 38392, ph. (731) 935-7208.
Also, Gerald Batchelor (believed to live on the other farm) lives at 695 Womack Lane, Denmark, TN 38391, ph. (731) 424-2032.
I also have the addresses of several Batchelors living in Jackson who may be either black or white.Let me know if you want them.
One of Alexander Batchelor's grandsons, Francis Abel "Abe" Batchelor, moved to Marvell, AR, where one of his descendants, Elton E. Batchelor lives at 10983 Hwy. 3165, Marvell, AR 72366 ph. (870) 829-2033.
I hope this is of some help.
If you find out anything more--regardless of ethnicity--please let me know.My email is [email protected]
