a new Bader has surfaced
Hello all Baders
I have just found out that my Dad's grandparents...who we all thought were natives of various parts of Russia...actually may have originally been Baders from Syria.
They came into the US from Minsk in the early 1900's.
We had always been told the story that the imigration officer who processed my great grandfather could not understand the last name he was trying to identify himself as...as it came out being pronounced 'Bedah'
...the immigration officer could not figure out how to spell it....turned to the next person in line, who had a name tag of LEVINE and wrote Levine on his paperwork..and ever after we were known as Levine...:}
I have just found out that it was not Bedah being said in this family story ..rather it was Bader.
Does anyone know of any connection to the 1900 era 'Brooklyn' Baders who may have known LuLu or Gussie Levine or the other sister Sarah < my great Bubbie> who was the mother of Harry,Louie,Joe and Max < my great grandfather> Levine?
This is an absolutely fascinating discovery on my part and I am very anxious to know more about this very significant aspect of my heritage....still unknown to me in any reality.
Much appreciated and the very best to all of you.
