Switzerland/Britain connection
I recently heard from a Balmer in Switzerland who mentioned in passing that the son of one of his ancestors had moved to Britain many years ago. As far as I know, many researchers have been trying for years to connect the Balmers in Switzerland and in Britain. I don't know that this is "the missing link", since it is more recent than I would hope, and perhaps others have found more connections, but I thought it might be of interest.
I don't have a lot of details, but according to my source in Switzerland, his ancestor Frederic Balmer and family lived in the region of La-Chaux-de-Fonds and St. Imier, Switzerland, and although I don't have a birth date, he died in 1933. He had a son, Bernard, who "lived in London", so I suppose the migration could have happened as early as the mid/late 1800's.
