Hi. I'm trying to find more about the Banfields who lived in St Pancras in the mid 1800s.
I would love to hear from anyone who has either * any information about a Jane Banfield born around 1830 to a father Paul (in any location!) * any relationship to the Banfield family members listed below.
My ancestor is Jane Banfield, b 1833 possibly in Middlesex, married Robert Dewmore, tailor, 1854 in Brompton. Jane's father is recorded as Paul Banfield, boatswain, probably deceased by 1854.
It is possible that this Jane is the same as Jane Mary Banfield, daughter of a St Pancras chimney sweep. Jane Mary married Philip O'Malley in 1849, but was underage at the time, and a few years later he marries someone else and is recorded as a bachelor.
Jane Mary's parents are Paul Banfield b 1796, married Deborah Daniels (b 1796). Paul was a bricklayer and chimney sweep.
Paul and Deborah had the following children: Peter Charles (b1820. Master sweep, married Catherine Kenney. 6 children. Stayed in St Pancras area) Amelia (b1821. Married Charles Aster Locock, several children) George (1823. Don't know what happened to him) Susan/Susannah (1829. Not married. Fancy brush maker in Islington. Daughter Deborah Banfield b 1851) Jane Mary (1830. Possibly married Robert Dewmore, see above).
