according to the CHURCH TITHEs of 1826, the only Bannigan/Banigan/Banagan, was Clonleigh Parish: James Banagan Lifford Parks.
this would put James Banagan in the same area as Bridget Bannigan, only at an earlier time. maybe her father?
My Bannigans come from the Legalton Rd in Ballyshannon, which is why i beleive that Catherine Banigan is a relative of mine.
Two FOX sisters married two BANNIGAN brothers, the sisters were Mary & Ann, Mary married Anthony, and Ann married Patrick I don't know the names of Anthony & Pat's parents, or if they had any siblings. My connection to the family is through the Foxes,This is a very close connection, almost like same family.
Legend has it that a Mary Bannigan came to Montreal, then Came to Portland by way of a caravan, which used to be arrainged in the 1800s.and she walked the distance. What relation she was to Anthony and Pat I don't know or if she had other relations in Montreal. Any way most of my Fox relations and the Bannigan relations came over to her. I think that eventually she went back to Ireland. Then the relations came over to my grandmother who was a sister to Mary & Ann.
The name Owen is a name which comes up quite frequently in our Bannigan families. part of the Bannigan family has moved to the area of Beleek.
I received an e-mail from Bob Probert recently saying that you had contacted him, He is researching Bannigans in the Beleek area. as I beleive some of them have ties to Monaghan.
Sorry that I can't tell you more, but I'll let you know if I get any more info. There doesn't seem to be that many Bannigans, so they are all connected somehow
I receivedan e-mail from( firstname.lastname@example.org ) giving me the following info:
