This is transcribe from a copy I obtained located in the courthouse in Windsor, Bertie County, NC.I did not note the deed book but the page number is 220 & 221. This is a fairly clear copy although there were some words I couldn't make out or wasn't quite clear on.I am not a professional transcriptionist nor claim to be.Barnacastle is spelt as such in the deed.

This indenture made this 17th day of November in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy & in the tenth? year of the reign of his present majestic George the third King of Great Britain __ between WILLIAM HOOTEN of the province & county aforesaid planter of the one part & EDMUND BARNACASTLE of the aforesaid province & county of the other part witnesseth that the said WILLIAM HOOTEN for & in consideration of the sum of seven pounds ten schilligs to him in hand paid by the said Edmund Barnacastle the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath given, granted bargained sold aliened enseassed?, conveyed confirmed assigned transfered & set out over & by these presents doth fully freely & ______ly give grant bargain sell alien enfeaff? convey confirm assign transferr & set over unto him the said EDMUND BARNACASTLE his heirs & assigns forever one certain messuage tract or parcell of land containing one hundred acres be the same more or less situate lying & being in the province & county aforesaid & bounded as follows viz beginning at an oak at the mouth of a branch which makes out of the chestnut pond about the south end of the said pond then up the said branch _______ ______ to Plowmans line then along said line a northerly course to said another branch that makes out of said pond then down said pond to the first station to have & to hold the said granted& bargained premisses with all & singular the appurtenances? prieivledges & commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appurtenances? ____ ___ said EDMUND BARNACASTLE his heirs & assigns forever & he the said WM. HOOTEN for himself his heirs executors & admin. doth convenant premises & grant to & with the said EDMUND BARNACASTLE his heirs & assigns forever that before the ensealing & delivery of these presents he is the true sole & lawfull owner of the above devised premises ___ lawfully seized & posessed of the same as an absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple & that he the said EDMUND BARNACASTLE his heirs & assigns forever shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter have hold, use, occuply, posess & enjoy the same & the said one hundred acres of land unto him the said EDMUND BARNACASTLE his hiers & assigns forever against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever to Warent Secure & defend.In testimony where of he the said WILLIAM HOOTEN hath hereinto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written.WILLIAM HOOTTEN (LS) ----------- signed sealed & delivered in the presence off ED.
