Just took some time to read some old items adn found your reference to James C being alive in 1845ish....you may have since found this: James C. Barnacastle(Barneycastle) was in Jackson Co., FL during 1850-1855 time frame.I've accumulated several documents hoping to connect him to William Bay and Harriet Wilson Barneycastle, but have not been able to do so.
On the 1850 Jackson Co., FL census ~~ (Page 302) James Barnacastle/age 22/b:NC ~~ (Page 303b/hse #274) James C. Barnacastle, age 49/b:NC ; Harriet H., age 46/b:NC; Thomas J. age 10/b:NC ; Julia Ann age 8/b.NC. ~~ (Page 304a/hse #283) Uriah Barnacastle, age 25/b: NC occ: Overseer.
On the court records, Marmaduke 'Duke' Pender* is involved with the sale of the land by Harriet H. G. Barnacastle or Barnacascel...it's shown both ways. Uriah, Harriet and James C. all filed for land during 1852-1854.Several years ago, a corresondent told me Harriet moved to Mississippi to be near family...she didn't know anything else. There are Barneycastle/Barnacastle in Miss. That seems PROBABLE asThomas J. Barnacastle enlisted in the 41st Mississippi Infantry....also, there was a Juliathat married G.B.S. Campbell in 1864 and then an L.R. Mosby in 1866 -- both in Lauderdale, MS. I've not pursued this line as I've not been able to find a tie in.
Also....Uriah Barnacastle m: Charity BROGDEN 13 Jun 1854Jackson, Florida.
