I have been compiling a database with information on that side of my husband's family. Let me tell you how frustrating it has been. I just sent away for the death cert. of his grandmother, Florence Elmira Carter whose mom was the Barnhill. My husband's mother said that Elmira's mother was a full-blood Creek. The family is great for remembering stories about the family, but not the facts. Do you know any of your Great-grandmother's siblings? and, if you don't mind, what does "Z.T." stand for? (Curious) Is there a possiblity that your people have native american in their background. My husband's people were simple people trying to survive the hardships of the time. My mother-in-law told me that they went to visit relatives elsewhere in AL and came back to no home after a tornado took the house they were living in. I understand that the county of Santa Rosa was split in two between AL and FL. They lived in a home where the front door was AL and the back door was FL. If we can help each other that would be great. I am living in NY, so I am not that familiar with that section of the country.
