Cathy - Although no individuals are named, Dr. Joseph Barnard does (in my opinion) give the most detailed account of the trip down the Mississippi to New Orleans, and from there to Texas. Please begin reading at http://www.tamu.edu/ccbn/dewitt/goliadbanard.htmhttp://www.tamu.edu/ccbn/dewitt/goliadbanard.htm which is found in "Sons of Dewitt Colony Texas". I have done my share of research on the the siblings of William Hodge Barnhill and their descendants. I am fairly certain this John (A. or N.) Barnhill we are discussing was not descended from William P. Barnhill (d. 1838, Brenham, Texas). I do believe, howener that John's father's name was "William". Anne Dortch's two brothers were William E. Dortch and Nathaniel Carter Dortch. Her mother's name was Elizabeth Carroll. Hope this will help - Stan
