Barnwell - Barnhill - Barnwall
Earliest Barnwell (Not Barnhill, Not Barnwall) I can find in the English possessions was Nicholas Barnwell, buried in the St. James Parish, Barbadoes on Sept. 2, 1679. (From Genealogical Publishing Co. Baltimore, 1976) I expect to get a lot of flack over this, but to continue... "On or about April 28, 1785, Peter Bogart formed a co-partnership with his brother - in - law Peter Byvanck under the name of Byvank & Bogart, and was engaged in the European trade until March 2, 1793. He was also for a time in partnership with his brother - in - law George Barnwell. He died Jun 11, 1838."Please note the name "Barnwell" was known in the English Provinces well before the 19th century. Yes, the Barnhills and Barnwells are families that descended from common ancestors.... I'm not so sure about the Barnwalls, though.- Stan Barnhill
