In his affidavit, he stated that he was born in Bucks Co, PA on 1 Dec 1760 and he was living in York Dist, SC when he entered the service.After the war he went back to York Dist. He then moved to Franklin Co , GA where he lived for 30 years and for the last 10 years he had been living in Hall Co. according to his second affidavit which was given on 10 Sep 1834.Wecan assume that he went to Franklin Co. 1793/1794.In 1790, he was most likely the Robert Barnhill enumerated on pag e 29 of the 1790 census for York Co.William Barnhill, Sr. was enumerated on page 28 and could be his father. William, Sr. was reportedly from Bucks Co, PA before going toYork Dist., S C.He and his wife Isabella and daughter Isabella, Jr. are buried in Beersheba Presbyteria n Cemetery in Clover, SC in present York Co.On 19 Jul 1793, Robert Barnhill was witness to a land sale on North Fork of Broad River in Franklin Co.On 22 Jul 1796 Robert Barnwill bought 225 acres on Gregg's Creek in Franklin Co.He also received a headright grant of 256 acres in Franklin Co in 1799 as Robert Barnhill from Gov. Jackson of GA. Robert was mentioned in many many recordsinvolving land conveyances in Franklin Co and Hall Co over the ensuing years. After 1800 he was always known as Barnwell and all of his children adopted the same name . In addition to his pension application in 1832 he was also a fortunate drawer in the Cherokee Land Lottery.His son William and son in law Samuel King McCutchen were named administrators of his estate which was settled on 6 Jan 1840. His property was distributedto his following children: (1) David A (b. 1790), (2) Cynthia (b. 1792),(3) Clarissa (b. 1794),(4) Robert Monroe (b. 1796), (5) William (b.1798), (6) Jane (b. 1801), (7) Nancy (b. 1804),(8)Mary (b. 1807).
