I'm an academic researcher, and with colleague Robert Pascoe, we are researching footballers in relation to Victoria's social history in the 19th century.
I read some comments in this forum, especially from Merilyn Stephenson about George Edward Barrass (de facto Ada Hooke) & his father George Heron Barrass. I suspect that George Edward Barrass was the football player Ted Barrass who played for Carlton Imperial, Melbourne, Carlton & South Melbourne football clubs in the late 1870s and early 1880s. He managed the Carlton Imperial Hotel at one time, & was married in 1878 (when a daughter was born in Carlton).
I hope someone can assist me in confirming my speculations.
