!VA. Colonial Abstracts for Accomack Co. VA. HBL Lib., Provo Ut. BK:
Inventory of estate for Graves Jarrett signed by Giles Basham and Thomas Basham (document correct spelling), Northumberland Co., VA 1 Jun 1722.!Spouse: Elizabeth Etheridge.
!1704 Nov 24th ...Richard Janett made a will and named BESHAW, Cousins in connection with his Plantation, "Hedgedom", in Somerset Co. Maryland. These siblings have the same given names as the children of WILLIAM BASHAN [CORRECT DOCUMENT SPELLING], The Virginia Colonial Abstracts [BK# F225. F58, 1988], gives the name BASHAN for these siblings [undoubtedly an errouneous
abstract of BASHAW/BASHAM?].
THOMAS BASHAW and his brother JOYLES [sic Giles?], along with Gravis JANETT were executors, of the will which was witnessed by THOMAS (Clayton?) LAYTON, FRANCIS LANDMAN and ANDREW CARLYLE. A daughter of GILES BASHAW must have been married to RICHARD JANETT.THOMAS BASHAW/BESHAW (R), removed to Somerset Co.,MD., from his birth place of NORTHUMBERLAND CO.,VA.
1729-30...THOMAS BUSHAW [alias BASHAW], made a will in Somerset Co.,MD. He gave his two eldest sons, viz: GARRET and WILLIAM BASHAW
[BESHAR?],100 acres of"HOGGS DOWN", which he had bought from GILES BUSHAW ; and personality; if said sons should die without issue, said
land to pass to younger sons. DANIEL CORBETT to live on said land for 5 years.
Son THOMAS and heirs, 100 acres, dwelling plantation; _________, said son dying without issue, to pass to youngest son WILLIAM; and
Youngest son WILLIAM and heirs, 70 acres, adj to plantation bought from GRAVES JERRETT; said son dying without issue, to pass to son Thomas.
Wife ANN, extx., personality. [mother of the four youngest children???].four youngest children viz: THOMAS, WILLIAM, ANNE and ELINOR, residue of estate after wife's thirds are deducted. TEST: DANIEL CORBETT; JOHN
COLLINS [Collince], THOMAS GOSLEE. [JOHN COLLINS could be a very significant collateral connection for GEORGENE, the COLLINS; WISDOMS and GIBSONS removed to PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA and CASWELL CO., NC abt 1756. It could be a son of this THOMAS BAYSHAW [sic BESHAR], and THOMAS ETHERIDGE, of Norfolk Co.,VA., [Boddie], who we are trying to identify
in TN., who are being so elusive. We need to know the connection if any
to, THOMAS BRASHER AND THOMAS ETHERIDGE who were early pioneers in the
Cherokee nation and probably had descendants in Lawrence Co, TN.
The BRASHERS who are [alias BASHAW/BASHAM], of record in Lawrence Co. TN., trace back to old Bedford Co. Virginia. There was a JAMES [Jr.], BASHAM and MARY BASHAM [born abt 1760], who had sons OBEDIAH and NATHAN, from that County. I wonder if this could be JAMES BRASHER and wife MARY
JANE [TURNER?], BRASHER, parents of ALEXANDER and NATHAN BASHAM/BRASHER
born abt 1804 of LAWRENCE CO., Lawrenceburg TN. [With land claims on
Sugar Creek TN., as heirs of JAMES BRADSHAW sic BASHAM/BRASHER?]
