There are three photo albums of various scenes of travel acround the world-historic sights etc., and one address book, one self published book of poems, and a HAND TYPED LIFE HISTORY for KATHERINE BROOKS- Later married Charles Batchelder. She grew up in Swarthmore Pennsylvania- she details it there, things life etc., She lived to be over 100 and was born in 1896!
Above are just some of the names in her family. In her 90 page-typed, one sided unpublished book- She not only gives you her entire life's history, but that family history of her parents, etc., and other family members etc.,. She was born in the late 19th c,-1896- through her life, many of the most important, historical changes and advancements in history take place-from electricity, to flight, trains, medical, cars etc., and she takes you through these journeys. She worked for the first americna embassy in Aregentina and was of a wealthly family! They had homes & apartments all over American and abroad- They travel via steam ship and glorious cruise ships, with ship names, people, places etc., and years and even some photo's affixed in between pages of her book- they traveled everywhere! They bee bopped around with famous likes, businessmen, presidents, diplomats, explorers and more! Her book-she wrote is worth the world to me and I know you'll be pleased too!
Her husband, Charles Batchelder was Vice president for International General Electric Company, an astronomer, a philanthropist, patron of the arts, avid golfer, & among other things- Katherine was a wonderful artist, and once secretary in her teens to HONOURABLE Frederic Jesup Stimsom- first Ambassador of the American Embassy in Argentina. She was an active fund raiser in WWI, and much more! Think of how old she was and all the historical and scientific advances that happened during her life time! Amazing really! Katherine's mother, Mrs. Turner Brooks wrote a book about Argentine Children-Published by L. C. Page & co., 1910. Her father was Richard Turner, Her Uncle was an actor, Pomeroy Cannon---All prominent wealthy figures...Her sister was Elizabeth Brooks Gittings-Mother to Barbara Gittings (gay rights activist, author), Katherine and Elizabeth's mother were also friends with Mrs. Cook-the wife of the Cook "who claims to have beaten Peary to the North Pole." As depicted in her book....so much more!
