John Batcher of White Plains, N.Y.
His parents died young and he was put in an orphanage where he ran away from to enlist in the U.S Army(which he lied about his age to enlist). He was in an infantry in the Philippines during the close of the Spanish-American War. He served three years and was discharged as a corporal. Got married had four children,Hilda, Sarah, Albert,and Helen. His wife died in 1920. He remarried 4 years later to Eva Vogg and had a stepson, Gerald. After the Army, he was a prison guard in Bismarck N.D. In 1918, he moved to Grand Rapids, MI. Than in 1927, he move to Mecosta County, MI. He Drowned tring to save his son, Albert and stepson Gerald. John Batcher had to have been born in 1854, because he was 73 years old in 1927 when he died. Does anyone in this forum have any info on John Batcher?
