It is widely written in local history that Alexander Bathgate immigrated from Scotland to Westchester County, New York and became the overseer of the Morris family farm. Alexander was originally employed by Gouverneur Morris I. Later, he purchased part of the farm from Gouverneur Morris II. The land was passed to son Charles Bathgate, and later, by 1880, was passed to his children, James, Alexander, Margaret Ann and Janet. By the late 1870s lower Westchester County was annexed by New York City and became the Bronx. In the 1890s the Bathgate Farm was sold to NYC and is today known as Crotona Park.
I am looking for any information on Alexander Bathgate.
