Batty, Sheffield, England, 1914-18

Vickers Limited - 1914-18

I used to work in the River Don Foundry and later, the Electric Melting Shop. In my time there the company was called BSC River Don and then Sheffield Forgemasters. I left school and became an apprentice Moulder, I then moved to the Melting Shop, where I worked on the pit side producing ingots. I was made redundant in 1987. My time at this works inspired a new line of research. The company was called Vickers Limited when the great war was fought. The men listed worked for this company and died in service during world war one.

The result of this research can be found on my website

There is information about the Batty family in the ‘Vickers Steelworks’ section
Please feel free to check it out.

If anybody can give me more information it would be great

Regards, Robert.

PS this research is in its infancy so please check the site regularly for new updates
