Attie Fair Decker, daughter of the late Nora Baughman, was born January 31, 1904 in Brandsville, Missouri and died May 14, 2005 in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 101 years in West Vue Nursing Center where she had lived since 1985. She was united in marriage September 16, 1927 in West Plains, Missouri to Fred Decker who preceded her in death August 3, 1957. She is survived by two sons, Ralph Eugene Decker and wife Deloris Jean, West Plains, and Roy T. Decker, West Plains, three daughters, Lydia Pauline Adams and husband Charles, West Plains, Norma Jean Gerdes, Gower, Missouri, and Mildred Lucille Rucker, Amarillo, Texas, one daughter-in-law, Lillian Decker, Riverside, California, 22 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, four sons, one daughter, one brother, and one sister. She attended the Mount Pleasant School through the 3rd grade and spent all her life in the West Plains area on a farm. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and working with her house plants. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing. She enjoyed life which was centered around her family and friends. She was a member of the Brandsville Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will be missed by those who knew her.
NOTE: Attie was the first born daughter of Nora BAUGHMAN who was unmarried at the time of Attie's birth. Attie lived with her grandfather Orlando BAUGHMAN and his second wife Rachel PIERCE from the time she was born until she married Fred DECKER. Also, Rachel PIERCE was Attie's biological great Aunt, as Rachel was the older sister of Nora's mother, Dicie PIERCE. Dicie died in childbirth in January 1898 and Rachel and Orlando were married in August? 1898.
