Elizabeth Ann Mary Baumann, 85, went to Heaven Monday,
February 9, 2009, to be with her beloved husband, Robert P.
Baumann, Jr. and precious daughter, Margaret 'Peggy' Rose.
Ann, who was the daughter of the late William Henry and
Nelle Gurley Mary, was born in Knoxville, TN, on August
28, 1923. She graduated from Knoxville Catholic High
School and Draughns Business College.
Ann and Bob were married for 54 years, enjoying nearly 30
years traveling the world with the Air Force. Upon Bob's
retirement, they returned to Knoxville to build their
dream home on the land Ann was raised on and dearly loved.
She was an active member of Sacred Heath Cathedral for
nearly 40 years. Ann was a volunteer for Ladies of Charity,
Agape House, Red Cross and numerous other organizations.
She leaves behind daughters, Carol Baumann of Knoxville,
TN, and Nancy Thurmond and husband, John Thurmond of
Leawood, KS; grandchildren, Chris Thurmond and family,
Julie, Emma Jake, Olivia and Ben, of Olathe, KS, Andy
Thurmond and family, Anina, Hunter, Ethan of Virginia
Beach, VA, Jennifer Reintjes and husband, Jim, and Amy
Thurmond of Omaha, NEB; sister and brother-in-law, Chickie
and Amy Gettelfinger; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and
Bobby Mary; sister-in-law, Martha Lewis; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday,
February 11, 2009, with a Christian prayer service and
Rosary to follow at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Thursday, February 12,
2009, at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Father T. Allen
Humbrecht and Monsignor Xavier Mankel officiating.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be Chris Thurmond, Andy Thurmond, Jim Reintjes, Tony
Mary, Chuck Southern, and Buddy Gettelfinger.
