looking at Roostweb WorldConnect, I found information that Walter Clarence BAUMGARTNER m. to JESSIE TYRA HORTON. and there is a pretty significant line back for her, I think she is out of some Bailey's. Not a lot of info about Walter, though. I have managed to glean a little from census regarding him, though, not much. There are only 3 children listed: Mary F(rancis) age 5, Joe D, age 3 10/12, and Lester (N) age 1 5/12. two more children are born later between 1930 &1940: Charles and Tommy. Tommy is the youngest. Lester died about 8/9 years ago, Charley and Joe both died in the last year or two. Tommy is still living(I saw him at Walmarts about 6 mos ago) and I think Mary Francis is still living. I am kind of looking this info up for my ex-husband, who was adopted by Lester in 1954. Lester also has a natural son Michael Wayne BAUMGARTNER. Lester m. a Dorothy Martin, around 1940-48. I think Michael was born around 1948-50 or thereabouts. All the boys had children as far as I know, but I don't know thier names, I could see what I can find out, if you are interested. My ex knows very little about this family, other than what he remembers as a child. and they tend to not be very forthcoming for the most part. He says he believed his grandmother Jessie was German, or at least of German decent. I have not found anything to indicate such, as it appears she was born in Kansas from American parents, so I don't know where that comes from, other than she apparently could make good streusal, and was a "good grandmother" LOL. Walter, according to my ex, was a carpenter all his life. Indeed Walter and his sons (and maybe with help from brother) literally built Emmanuel Baptist Church in Corsicana. Both Walter and Jessie died in Corsicana. Thier house still exists and last I checked was occupied by one of thier granddaughters and her family (Mary Francis' dtr I think, since I think the house was left to Mary when they died.) That's about all I know from this end, at least about Walters family. I have never heard mention of other Baumgartners in Ellis county until I started looking them up. I don't know if any of the rest of them know they have family in Ellis county. and maybe vice versa.
