Actually, the Bayard's were from originally from England, I believe.Samuel's father was Lazare Bayard (minister from Norfolk, England)He married a dutch women, so I presume he had emmigrated by the time he married about 1600.I've read that they were in France then emmigrated to Holland due to persecutions and religious tensions, then were part of the first settlings of New Amsterdam.
Samuel and sister Judith married Anna and Peter Stuyvesant before the emmigration to New Amsterdam.Samuel died in Holland and Anna was with her brother Peter in moving to the new world. There is a Bayard Street, still in Lower Manhattan.
I'm still searching for the data I have on the "colonel" Nicholas Bayard.
I've often thought the Bayard's were a very intersting family. They eventually marry into the Livingston family of Columbia County, then find themselves on the wrong side of the revolution and with other Loyalists move to Nova Scotia... and the story goes on.
Will look forward to adding your Verlett information into the mix.
