Sue, you will recall that we met some 15 years ago at your father's home in Pineville, KY and compared genealogy notes.
I agree that the case for showing Sarah, wife of Peter I, as the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Bybe/Bibb is not conclusive but it is very compelling.Until shown otherwise, I am going with "Bybe"
I think we can rule out "Bibb", because one member of the Bibb family was a U. S. Senator from Georgia, later territorial governor of Alabama, and, still later, the first governor of Alabama. He was succeeded as governor by a younger brother. Still another brother became governor of Mississippi.
They were all very well educated, and the family has been well researched, and the spelling has always been B-i-b-b.
One last item, you have one or more posting on the issue of the wife of William Bays, brother of Peter III.I have been in touch with the Barkers and have a considerable amount of data from them.I am convinced that Peter III married Susannah Barker and his younger brother, William, married Rachel Barker, Susannah's younger sister.
We need to research every variation of Bayes/Bays, etc.I have done that and made liberal use of the word search feature. My great grandmother was Nancy Carter Bays. While researching Carter I typed in "Bays" in the word search block and then read all the postings under "Carter" that mentioned Bays.
You will find posting number 19917 under Carter, posted by Dan Wallace, very interesting.
Then, under "Baze" see Mark Baze's postings 469, 484,494, 505, and 508.
