My Bean ancestors came from Burke County, Tennessee and lived around Bean Hollow, Franklin County, Tennessee. Bean Hollow is located a couple of miles from Anderton Branch Public Access Area. Bean Hollow is also located close to Lincoln and Moore Counties. Bean Creek is in Franklin County, Tennessee, but is not in the same area as Bean Hollow. I know that Jesse Bean, son of Captain William Bean of the Watagua station, settled on Beans Creek. The creek may have been named for him, I don't know. I beleive that Bean Hollow may have been named for Jonathan or Connor Bean, as it is known that at least that Connor Bean lived in the Bean Hollow area very early. Jonathan Bean married Katherine Scaife (Skeef) in 1801 in Franklin County, Tennessee, so it is likely that he lived in the Bean Hollow area early also. Jonathan Bean was granted land in Gallatin County, Illinois for his service in Colonel Woodfolk's company in the War of 1812. He served under Captain Ezekiel Bass. Jonathan Bean served from Franklin County, Tennessee. Does anyone have or know of any documentation that states who Bean Hollow was named for?
