I was just reading through the threads here and wondered if anything came of this story. What a wonderful family heirloom it would be to pass down an entire house and Keep it within the family line. My father's family home was sold years ago after my grandfather died and now the place is a Chiropractors business! It has not been kept up my Nana would pitch a fit to see it today. All of her beautiful gardens are gone, the ancient apple tree has been cut down, the old smoke house on the property is no longer there and its just a sad sight to see it that way (this is in Maine). The house is way too large to care for and maintain at this stage in our retirement lives, but what I wouldn't have given to have been able to inherit that place and keep it in the family. The house was built in the late 1700's and of course had many upgrades over the years, but these old houses are to be Preserved. They are not still standing today through violent winter storms and weather for nothing. They are a true testament to our ancestors skills.I would be willing to bet that no house built today (average house) will still be standing in 216 years.
I am all for Preserving America! These are Our Roots and our ancestors built these old places and they should be spared. I hope someone bought the place and will take good care of it and be very aware of its historical value. Better yet, I hope a Bearce bought it.
