Not much info and the census is incomplete. There is also a listing of your surname offered for sale by some company in the UK. What I have found is inconclusive but I have found listings of your surname here in Mi. Also NC, IN, out west where you are, NJ, and Canada. It's possible that it is an old mis-spelling of Beaubien. At the Marquette shrine in St. Ignace, Mi. are lists of trappers and other explorers where the Beaubien name is usually mis-spelled in several variations depending who was doing the writing and/or spelling. Schooling wasn't very high in priority in those days [1650 to 1840] as Michigan was mostly wilderness where survival reigned supreme.
