Dear Loretta Zielinski , Barbara Becher and Chris Dale,
Hi, I am Greg Becher, father of Max Becher to whom you wrote.I am sorry it has taken us (Max and I) so long to reply to Loretta's e-mail written in November.
Piecing together previous posts in this string, I can only surmise that Loretta's great-grandmother, Anna Becher (born around 1840) is the daughter of Thaddeus Becher (1820-1864) (cf. Barbara Becher's posting dated 09/06/00) and whom my family has always called "Tattars."
Reading Chris Dale's posting of 04/26/01, I see that Chris and I agree on the date of Thaddeus' death, but we differ on the date of Thaddeus' birth. My information comes from a handwritten family tree which my father had. This family tree document easily could be erroneous in the date of Thaddeus' birth.I believe my aunt scratched out the family tree when she was visiting my father.
Chris, do you have a reliable source for the date of Thaddeus' birth?Your date of 1820 certainly seems more reasonable, given the date of the birth of his son John T. Becher (1853-1913).I know we are talking about the same man, since both of our records indicate his wife was Josephine Erhardt who died in 1903.Also, do you have a certain date for the date on which John T. Becher died?My father's family tree says 1911, you wrote that it was 07/04/1913.You seem very sure of your dates.
Barbara Becher's posting dated 09/06/00 seems to tie the loose ends together, showing that Thaddeus had children named Anton, Joseph, Anna, Johann (John) and Andrew. My family and Chris Dale's family branches off with Thaddeus's son Johann (John).Barbara Becher's family branches off with Thaddeus' son Joseph.Loretta's family branches off from Thaddeus' daughter Anna.
Does this sound right to all of you?If not, please let me know.
I would love to receive any other information which any of you (Barbara, Chris, Loretta, or anyone else reading this message) have regarding Thaddeus Becher and his descendants or forefathers.I am new to genealogy and my information is sketchy at best.I know some of my relatives have more information.I will let you know what else I can find out.
There sure seems to have been a lot of Becher relatives living in the Greenville area in the mid-1800's. It would be interesting to reach some of the descendants who live there today to see if they can fill in some of the family history. What research have the three of you done in that locale?
