I am a descendant of Adam Büdenger and Anna Margaretha Hansknecht, who are said in my family records to have:
"Lived in village of Darschel or Dursil in Alsace. Left Rotterdam on ship Samuel in 1737. Reached Philadelphia 30 Aug 1737.
"Emigrated possibly on advice of his friend, Dr. Mulenburg, a noted Lutheran divine of the day.
"Appears to have been a man of substance. Took up a large and fertile tract of land on the Conewaga in York County, Penna. and prospered greatly. Married 3 times and had 10 children."
Adam had two sons, Henry Bedinger, b. 1729, from whom I am descended, and Nicholas Biettinger, about whom I know very little. Henry was the father of George Michael Bedinger, as well as Henry, Daniel, Solomon, Elizabeth, Sarah and Mary.
George Michael Bedinger is the subject of a biography, George Michael Bedinger, A Kentucky Pioneer, by Danske Dandridge (1909), a copy of which is in my possession.
