Hello Jean-Guy, I am your cousin whose father married your mother's sister, Dolores Gemma Begin. I spoke with Uncle Bonnehomme and he said that Uncle Charly in Hamilton had once done a complete Family Geneology. In this write-up, Uncle Bonnehomme Said that the Begin Family first came to Canada on Jacque Cartier's Second Voyage. They were apparently very well off and were in the steel business. Somewhere in the 1700's, there was a big Family split. Some stayed allied with the Catholic Church and some came west and married into the Dionaondati People. Some research has revealed that those who married into the Dionaondati People were of the Turtle Clan. It has been difficult to trace which Turtle Clan, since the Dionaondati People had Five (5) different Turtle Clans. The Dionaondati People were part of what the French called Huron. They called themselves W8ndat, Wyandot, Wendate. These People did not call themselves Huron. It has taken me approx. 8 years to get where I am now and I have never seen the written Family History from uncle Charly. From my early childhood, I have seen many pictures of Relations who were Nuns, Priests and Bishops. The "Other" side of the Family has never been talked about.Since I don't currently have an E-Mail address, call me at 1-905-276-7123.
