Are you a BELLIS descendant? Some of my previous posts on this website, as well as my cousin Diane BELLIS's posts, will provide some of the info we're researching. We descend from Barton and Jane's third child, Carlisle. Here's an abbrebiated rundown:
Philip BELLIS (see my forum post 3/27/00) (b. c. 1790; d. c. 1852, near Bean Lake, Platte Co. MO; m. 1813 Polly Brown in Carlisle, Nicholas Co. KY) Children:James (Garret?), Miranda Ellen, William Barton (1831-1917), John Bellis.
William Barton BELLIS m. Lucinda Jane BROWN (b. 1836) Children:Mary Jane b. 1854; Harvey Johlie b. 1856; Carlisle Walker b. 1858; Sarah Ellen b. 1860; Samuel Parker b. 1862; Christena Virginia b. 1864; Milton Benjamin b. 1866; Oliver Dillard b. 1868; Amanda Margarite b. 1871; Annie E. b. 1873.
Philip's grave is apparently located on his former homestead, which is currently owned by TURNBULL.It's located near Bean Lake, MO.Mrs. TURNBULL is a BELLIS descendant and was still living in Philip's former house two years ago, but I was unable to talk with her.Next door to Philip's old homestead is another house, which he or his son William Barton built, where Barton and Jane lived. It was passed on to son Milton Benjamin. In 1997 Diane & I were sleuthing around and by amazing luck ran into Robert Lutz, the current owner, who invited us in to see it. Lutz's deceased wife was Nellie, who was a descendant of Barton & Jane.I do not know if Robert is still living.
