Do the math.....???
Jesse Bement (1740-1790) was married to Tryphosa Leach, & his son was John Bement you mention born 9/15/1776.Jesse & Tryphosa could not have been the parents of someone born in 1807 as Tryphosa would have been over 60 yrs old at that time.Neither could Jeremy have been the son of Jesse Bement's son named Jesse born a yaer after his brother John in 1777.At least family history does not name him, nor does "Making of America" series below. So it stands to reason Jeremy is probably the son of John & Betsey Hitchock Bement, that is the John born 9/15/1776, son of Jesse & Tryphosa, brother of the Jesse married to Amy Castle who lived in Mechlenburg, NY.
JESSE BEMENT, JR., in early manhood, settled in Western New York, first at what is now the town of Groton, and later at Hector, in Tompkins/Schuyler County, where, near the pleasant village Meclenburgh, he successfully followed agricultural pursuits, and there he died, as did his wife, Amy Castle.
Jesse BEMENT - Jesse Bement Jr., was born in 1777 in Brimfield, Hampden Co., MA, and was the son of Jesse Bement (1740->1790) and Tryphosa Leach. He settled first in Groton and later in Hector near the village of Mecklenburg. He married Amy Castle and they had the following children:
