Francois Fournaise b 1708 in Toulouse, Languedoc, France, came to Quebec as a soldier. He m Angelique Serre dit St. Jean on August 17, 1730 at St. Laurent, Montreal, Quebec. She was the dau. of Andre Serre dit St. Jean and Marie Anne Boilard. Andre was originally from St. Martin, Lavaur, Languedoc, France.
Francois and Angelique had many children, one of whom was Mathurin Aubin La Fournaise dit Laboucane who m Archange Lalonde.
Mathurin and Archange had children, one of whom was Joseph Baptiste La Fournaise dit Laboucane b June 16, 1775, who m Suzanne Leclerc dit Allard b 1780. They were married according to the custom of the country, and did not marry in the church until after their children were born. At St. Boniface, Manitoba, she and her children were baptised and the next day on February 8, 1830, she and Joseph Baptiste La Fournaise were married there. Her son, Louis Smith dit Cabry b 1808(from a previous relationship with Thomas Smith) was also baptised, and married Marguerite Adelaide Parenteau on February 8, 1830 at St. Boniface. Manitoba.
