Jack, Ido enjoy hearing about your Benham connections. For starters in our exchang of Benham inf. I will mention that I wrote some memoirs "MOM! THRESHERS ARE COMING--my first 13 years on an OHIO farm andavailable in Lebanon Gen. Society. I soon will havea reprint for purchase or will loan. This my first book and the footnote on page is:
15. The Snooks: Ephraim Snook once owned our farmHe sold to my great gp.Thomas Gibbsand his wife, Eliza Benham. Ephraims wife was Rebecca Benham, dau. of James Benham, John's brother.etc etc. Guess this not your James, but interesting. Some of the Benhams lived just S. of us, but I can;t quie place it-perhaps had been torn down, just as my home was a few years ago. My "THRESHERS" has a nice color aerial view of house and fields and a more recent close up one one of the house in 1970s.Am into reprinting because lots of our elderly here grow nostalgic after reading it, Womans work, Mens work, my 1 room school and culture of the 1920s and more. Some younger ones are quite complimentary too. My sister always said the Benhams an outstanding family.
The second book is more academic and in 2 parts,--with the detective work and stories Part 1 and Part2 the data of over 2000 descendants of my ancestor SLAGLE with a lot of the DUNHAM related Familiesin sketches. The ahnentafels in total give my pedigree! This my maternal line"SLAGLE TRAILS"-460 pages and has gone over well too, donated to many libraries including Fort Wayne. Have for sale copies of this or would be happy to loan too.
Am interested in the Benham map.
Are you aware of our WRIGHT BROS.connection? My Dad a 4th cousin and have those stories as you probably do, such as Catherine who was a VERY EARLY SETTLER OF DAYTON,.
Since your Mother was in DAR from SGT.PETER Benham and he and his son Peter are my ancestors. I would lik a copy of her DAR application if available and I would get supplementals on mine. I am in on Daniel Dunham, but my husband thinks I should honor more of them. Rebecca/Becky
