I'm a descendant of Catharina Berger and Daniel Crider.I thought you'd like to know there is a book by Rebecca Blackwell "Descendants of John Michael Kreider of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania: Crider families of Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee" available for $20 from Heritage Books, Inc.1540E Pointer Ridge Place, Bowie, MD 20716.Tel: 1-800-398-7709.Email:www.heritagebooks.com.In it there is a five page biography of Daniel Crider (son of John Michael) where both Catharina and her brother Jacob are discussed throughout. Also in a book about early Pittsylvannia county grist mills by Herman Melton there are two pages about Daniel Crider's mill on Frying Pan creek in Pittsylvannia county.Last, in the book by Maude Clements "The History of Pittsylvania County Virginia" on pg. 129 is the sentence "George Tosh and Katherine his wife gave one acre for a Methodist church on the road leading from Samuel Berger's store to Daniel Crider's mill naming as trustees David Berger, Thomas Wright, William Crider, John McCrickard and Robert Thurman."If you are serious about your search the Blackwell book is definately worthwhile, or of you like if you send me your address I can copy this information for you.
There are several of us on the Daniel Crider/Catharina Berger side of the family that have been trying for some while to get additional information about Catharina's/Jacob's parents. In fact, one person is planning a trip to Germany in the fall to research what she can. ANY information you might have would be gratefully appreciated.
