I provided you with some information on Birmingham castles in Ireland on the other (Birmingham)forum. The Birminghams (Berminghams)in Ireland are descended from Normans who came to Ireland in 1166. They had huge lands west of Dublin and in Connaught. Found many battles, had many castles, intermarried with the Irish, for several centuries were quite important. They lost most of the lands after 1690 when the English took lands from Catholics. There was a Lord Birmingham at Athenry right through the 18th Century because that line converted in order to keep their property. GriffithsValuation shows that there were a lot of Birminghams and Berminghams in County Clare. You may want to take a look at that information for clues. Contact the Clare Heritage Center in Corofin, if you haven't already. They sent me a lot of information for County Clare Our line is supposedly from County Galway but we haven't tracked down where yet. Descended from a Thomas Birmingham and Catherine Ryan.
