June, Hello, I appreciate that your post was over 2 years ago but a response is better late than no response at all !. Please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is David Goldring. I live in Glasgow, Scotland and I believe from the information you have we supplied that we are definitely related. You see, My GGGRNDF was Abraham Bernstein, married to Rose (Amelia). They had 4 children - David b.1862, Mary (Gin) b.1868, Samuel b.1865 and Sarah b.1874 and I have a photograph of them all sent by my cousin Stella Sternberg (nee Rosenthal) taken in 1889 just before Abraham died.
Mary, was my Great-Grandmother, she died in 1961, a year after I was born. She was married to Lazarus Alexander and they had 4 children Esther(Mim) b.1894, Abraham b.1896, Philip b.1899 and Mordechai(Motty) b.Feb 15th 1904
My Grandfather was Mordechai.
My parent are Lorna Goldring (nee Alexander) b.15th June 1937 and Gerry Goldring b.9th June 1937 and they both still live in Liverpool.
I researched my family about a year ago but hit a dead end. My mother told me that David Bernstein was a barber by profession and had married Sarah and had emigrated to America in the early 1900's but I could not find his record on Ellis Island or any trace of him once he got to America, she believes he had 2 sons Charlie and Alexander, maybe you can confirm this ?
Well that is surely enough for you to digest in a single email, I'm sure there are lots more gaps I can fill in for you. Maybe you can get back to me and tell me where you fit in ? I can send you a copy of the family photo from 1889 mentioned earlier if you wish.
