In Feb 1863 Charles H. Bess joined Thomas M. Coombs, also an escaped Rebel POW, in a long journey down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers to Memphis and then by rail to Moblie and Atlanta to rejoin their CSA units. Pvt Charles Bess is recorded in Co E, 2nd Kentucky Infantry, CSA and is listed by the Kentucky AG as missing, having been captured 2 Jan 1863. He may have joined Co B, 14th Kentucky Cavalry, where his name is listed in the Confederate Roster. Seeking information on Charles.Any leads appreciated.
